Press release -

Telenor Connexion joins high level Swedish business delegation to South Korea

South Korea and Sweden will celebrate 60 years of diplomatic relations with an exclusive business event in Seoul during December designed to showcase the unique strengths of the two nations. Mats Lundquist, CEO of Telenor Connexion, will visit Seoul and participate in the Innovation Start-up alongside Swedish Prime Minister Stefan Löfven as well as other high-level representatives from leading enterprises.

Organized by Business Sweden, the Innovation Start-up Tour offers ticket-holders a unique opportunity to access and engage with key stakeholders from both countries who work as business leaders, policy makers, and entrepreneurs. Held from December 17-19, the event is a prime occasion for attendees to get a deeper understanding of South Korea — a booming market in APAC.

The program will consist of a pitching seminar, company visits, high-level delegation event and business forum.

Despite being separated by vast distance and cultural differences, Sweden and South Korea share strong industrial and engineering traditions and an almost unequalled innovative mindset. South Korea, for example, topped Bloomberg’s 2019 Most Innovative Economies index for the second year in a row, with Sweden ranking at number seven of around 200 assessed economies.

Telenor Connexion CEO Mats Lundquist, and CSO for APAC, Seth Ryding, are among the high-level delegates participating in the Innovation Start-up Tour. From industry to innovation, the ties between the two powerhouse nations has never been deeper, explains Lundquist.

“South Korea and Sweden are regarded as two of the most innovative countries in the world,” he says. “South Korea — like Sweden — has a long history in fostering businesses that have gone on to become some of the world’s most innovative and ground-breaking. Telenor Connexion was a pioneer in the IoT area and today partners with many of the current industry leaders and helps enable them to connect their products worldwide.”

Telenor Connexion has recently strengthened its presence in South Korea by expanding its local team who assist international companies in the region to take their business to the next level using managed connectivity and managed IoT cloud.

“We have a growing footprint in South Korea and throughout APAC,” says Seth Ryding, CSO for APAC at Telenor Connexion. “We are uniquely positioned to connect any business — including the large amount of manufacturing and exporting companies that exist in South Korea — who want to go global. I look forward to celebrating the Swedish/South Korean anniversary and to sharing our vision of IoT.”

Telenor Connexion is the specialized IoT company within the Telenor Group, one of the world’s major mobile operators. The company manages connected things in more than 180 countries for global customers including Volvo, Scania, Hitachi, CIMC and Grundfos.
