Press release -
Grundfos selects Telenor Connexion to connect its global pump business
Grundfos, a leading manufacturer of advanced pump solutions, has selected Telenor Connexion to connect its global business.
The world’s population continues to grow at a phenomenal rate and is predicted to increase by 1.2 billion in just over 15 years. Coupled with huge population growth in developing regions and increased urbanization, the state of our planet requires energy efficient products and solutions that make a significant difference – particularly regarding SDG* 6 (clean water and sanitation) and 13 (climate action).
Central to climate change mitigation and – especially – adaptation are smart water management solutions that handle water scarcity and flooding, which are global and increasingly serious issues.
Grundfos produces around 18 million pumps each year for customers in more than 55 countries. The Danish company strives to incorporate emerging technologies into its solutions to help organizations worldwide increase water efficiency, improve water management and ultimately overcome the scarcity of clean, fresh water for our planet.
To help reach these strategic goals, Grundfos approached Telenor Connexion to connect its water management pumps. Under the terms of the agreement, Telenor Connexion will supply Grundfos with managed connectivity. The global IoT connectivity solution will enable Grundfos to monitor and digitalize millions of connected water pumps worldwide.
Using Telenor Connexion’s IoT solution, Grundfos will be able to access real-time data. Grundfos plan to use this information for product development, facility monitoring and the creation of new business models and services for its millions of global customers.
Speaking of the announcement, Mads Nipper, CEO of Grundfos, says: “Global coverage, local expertise in key markets and an innovative mindset are some of the reasons we have selected Telenor Connexion as partners. Maximizing ease of connectivity for our customers is a top priority, which this partnership will greatly enhance.”
Combining Grundfos and Telenor Connexion’s expertise and knowledge will benefit customers and end-users worldwide.
“Around 10% of total world electricity consumption is from electrical pumps. We need to set very high standards when it comes to energy consumption, and continuously improving our digital solutions is absolutely central to such ambitions,” Nipper says. “I’m excited by what the future holds working closely with Telenor Connexion and am confident our customers will appreciate the next generation of innovative connected products that we’re developing.”
Mats Lundquist, CEO of Telenor Connexion, says: “We are excited to partner with Grundfos — one of the world’s biggest and most innovative pump solution manufacturers. With our strong market footprint in Asia together with our long experience within IoT we are confident we can help Grundfos increase water efficiency, improve water management and tackle the challenges associated with supplying clean water globally for people, business and society.”
*United Nations Sustainable Goals.
