Telenor Connexion achieves ISO 27001 certification
Telenor Connexion, the specialized IoT company within the Telenor Group, today announced it has achieved ISO 27001 certification, in recognition of its commitment to provide its customers with the highest level of information security management.
Following an extensive auditing process, performed by Intertek, a multinational assurance, inspection, product testing and certification company, Telenor Connexion was awarded the certification on September 25, 2019.
ISO 27001 is a globally recognized standard that describes how to manage information securely. The standard has become the most popular information security standard in the world, with hundreds of thousands of companies attempting to get certified each year. Telenor Connexion was awarded the ISO 27001 certification on its first attempt, further showcasing the completeness of its information security program.
“Our customers require the highest level of data security in accordance with industry best practices and standards,” says Robert Bellwaldius, COO for Telenor Connexion. “Achieving the ISO 27001 certification is further recognition that we are meeting the extreme standards we set for ourselves and for our customers.”
This latest certification builds on the company’s trustworthy reputation. In 2016, Telenor Connexion became ISO 9001 certified, another international standard that specifies requirements for a quality management system. The standard is used to assess a company’s ability to meet statutory and regulatory requirements related to a product or service as well as the needs of customers and other key stakeholders.
Bellwaldius says security is a mindset at Telenor Connexion and that the company takes a range of technical, administrative and physical steps to secure its own information, as well that of its customers and employees.
“Information must be meticulously managed, controlled and protected,” he says. “These certifications demonstrate to our customers that Telenor Connexion takes security extremely seriously and that we have stringent policies in place to mitigate risk and protect all information from cyber threats.”
ISO 27001 is routinely updated to ensure companies can protect themselves and mitigate risks against today’s current threats as well as against future cybercrime, data theft, and data loss.
“All IoT solutions must include information security,” Bellwaldius says. “With this certification, Telenor Connexion shows that all our customers can feel confident that this is the case in all our services and in the way we deliver and manage them. Being certified also shows that being security conscious is more than just talk.”
